Problem

The original model of success is no longer realistic for most and is now outdated. Emerging adults are feeling overwhelmed and inediquate. The “transition to adulthood” as marked by five milestones: completing school, leaving home, becoming financially independent, marrying and having a child.

But if you look at the numbers, everything’s has changed. In 1960, 77 percent of women and 65 percent of men had passed all five milestones by the time they reached 30. Among 30-year-olds in 2000, according to data from the United States Census Bureau, fewer than half of the women and one-third of the men had had passed all five milestones.

The average amount of debt (student loans, auto loans, morgages, credit card, ect.) has more than doubled each generation. The cost of child care has increased 214% since 1990.

Solution

a solution to shift the model for how we define and seek success. It includes informative and accessible interactive design, user experience, print design, data visualization, web designs, and a web campaign (facebook, instagram, twitter, pinterest, ect.)

This campaign aims to form apathy between generations and create a conversation about economic hardships. By creating this bridge of communication society can push to refine success and advocate for change.

Upon arrival at the Shift table, you could find different cards with the question “what is success?” after you would be asked to pin the card to a poster.
